Going To Germany

September 14th, 2007

So I know I haven’t updated this in awhile, however I am going to be leaving for Germany in a few days and thought it would be a good idea to throw up some pictures of my trip and to keep in touch with friends and family while I am there.

I have to be at the Guard at 0630 on Monday the 17th, and we will leave around 10ish after all of our briefings and meetings.  It promises to be a good time!  I won’t post where we are exactly going until after we have been there, so check back on occasion to see where we have been gallivanting.  Until then, time to get my things ready!

I’m back!

April 12th, 2007

Yes, I am indeed back in action.  Well, at least this blog is back up and working.  The gallery is still giving some fits.  But much thanks to Jason and his work saving this and getting it back up and working.  Apparently the server that was running this and a few other pages went out to lunch, and Jason had to switch it over to another server.  But it is back up!

So a lot has happened since the last post, and I will try to cover some of the high points here:

Little Rock - I finished up all my C-130 training on March 9th, and left on the 12th.  It was sad leaving everybody, but it was nice to be finished and fully mission capable.

Moving Back to North Carolina - Surprisingly, I was able to fit everything in my little Prelude once again, and swung by my cousins in Nashville before arriving at my folks house in High Point.  How great it is to be back in the Cackilackys!  After living in a land locked state for so long I have had my fill of seafood, as well as some other delicacies such as bojangles.  Oh yes, and of course I have reacquainted myself with my motorcycle, and actually rode it tonight.

I also am living in an extended stay hotel for the time being as I figure out how I am going to get settled in.  The neat part about it is that they do so much business with the Guard that they decided to upgrade me to the penthouse suite!  I am staying in a two story hotel room with two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a fire place, and they even do my dishes for me!  I not ever going to want to move out!

NC Air National Guard - So I have realized that the Guard is a great thing, especially compared to the training command of active duty Air Force.  Everybody is quite more relaxed, and is willing to help you out whenever needed.  I even flew my first real mission the other day when one of the airplanes returning from Afghanistan needed some of its defensive flares removed down at Shaw AFB.  And another thing; these planes are sweet!  They have many upgrades from the older versions at Little Rock which makes flying them much easier.  However I am neck deep in all the publications learning these differences.

Speaking of returning from Afghanistan, my good friend Sepko returned the other week, whom I am going to live with come time for me to move out of the hotel.  We are moving into a little place over in Dillworth (for those of you who know Charlotte) and spent last night cleaning it up.  I think the girl who lived there last never cleaned!  Yuck!  But I will update more on this later as we get moved in.

And so those are the main things that have been dominating my life as of late.  I have also caught up with some friends around the area, however living in Charlotte keeps me away from all you guys in High Point.  Hopefully I can get back with more time and catch up with everybody.  It is great being back home!
